Relaxation Massage
Relaxation massage involves steady, slow, soothing strokes, usually using Swedish Massage techniques.
The
overall purpose is to relax tense muscles, sooth the nervous system,
reduce stress hormones, release endorphins, and to relieve pain.
Stress
and worry are huge causes of illness and disease. Relaxation massage
is effective in taking the edge off these feelings and reducing stress
and anxiety.
Therapeutic Massage
Therapeutic massage is the application of massage techniques in order
to treat specific conditions. Some relaxation/swedish massage is
usually incorporated, along with other techniques such as myofascial
release, passive stretching, drainage, joint mobilizations, and soft
tissue rehab.
Conditions treated include headaches,
injuries, TMJ dysfunction, tendinitis, bursitis, carpal tunnel, edema,
postural imbalances, respiratory issues, arthritis, chronic pain,
fibromyalgia,
nervous disorders, among many others.
Reiki
Reiki is a gentle yet effective healing method that originated in
Japan. It aims to renew and rejuvenate the life force energy (or ki,
also known as chi or prana) in each person.
You will be fully
clothed during the treatment, and the therapist will place hands on
your body (or just above your body) in various static positions from
your head to your toes. The sensations reported from recipients
include deep relaxation, hot or cool sensations, and feelings of
lightness.
Reiki is useful for treating stress, mental and physical fatigue, and feelings of imbalance, among many other things.
*Please
note that in order for an insurance receipt to be provided, a reiki
treatment must be combined with a massage therapy treatment.
