I've lived in Ottawa my entire life, and many experiences have led me to become a Massage Therapist. I learned about body mechanics from an early age through the study of dance, my personal yoga practice, and activities such as cycling. Earning my B.A. in Psychology taught me all about stress, health, and how the body and mind are undeniably and inextricably connected. Having always had an interest in natural health and wellness, my eventual study of Massage was almost inevitable.
I try to make each person's massage as beneficial to that individual as
possible. You prefer a very gentle massage? That is exactly what you
will get. You would like a deep tissue treatment with trigger point
therapy, then that is what you will receive. I'm not interested in
taking control of your massage with my own preferences. It is your
massage, after all. I'm a licensed therapist, but you are the master of
your own body and you should be completely in charge of your own
treatment.
Massage Therapists receive over 2200 hours of theoretical, hands-on, and clinical training, approximately equivalent to an undergraduate degree. Subjects studied in detail include Anatomy, Physiology, Pathology, Assessment, Ethics, Treatments, Advanced Techniques, and Neurology. I was licensed to practice by the College of Massage Therapists of Ontario in 2006.
